The Stay
Harmoniously settled into Norfolk’s wide spanning agricultural landscape and serene countryside just outside the historic market town of King's Lynn. Nest Farmhouse offered a truly delightful escape on a gloriously perfect late Spring Evening in May, when all the hues are particularly technicolor. From the moment I arrived, the charming ambiance of this beautifully converted farm building enveloped me, promising a relaxing and memorable experience. With nothing but rapeseed fields and woodland stretched out from the farmhouse, the location offers an immediate connection with nature. Inside the restaurant and lounge area you feel instantly at ease, with homely country kitchen like furniture combined with touch of whimsical. Before taking a seat for your fine dining, an absolute must is to take a wander outside down to the private lake and its patio, armed with a martini and olives.
Room
Rooms, individually designed with a thoughtful blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, creating a haven of tranquility. Think striking steel beams whispering tales of the building's past, paired with plush bedding that inviting a restful sleep after a day of exploring the stunning Norfolk landscape. The tasteful décor, featuring locally sourced touches, sets a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately feels like home.
Guests can expect waking up to the gentle sounds of the countryside a soothing remedy to any outside worldly woes. Draw back the curtains and reveal picturesque view of the surrounding fields, an ideal backdrop to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea (thoughtfully provided in the room, along with delicious local biscuits – a lovely touch!)
Attention to detail in the rooms is truly impressive. From the high-quality toiletries in the ensuite bathroom to the ample storage space and the comfortable seating area, everything was designed with the guest's comfort in mind. Beyond the comfort of my room, The Nest Farmhouse Hotel offered a welcoming and convivial atmosphere throughout. The communal areas were tastefully decorated, inviting guests to relax by the fireplace or enjoy a drink in the cozy bar. The promise of a delicious breakfast, featuring locally sourced ingredients, further enhanced the experience.

On The Menu
At the heart of Nest Farmhouse is its acclaimed restaurant, driven by a "farm-to-plate" ethos. Head Chef Grant Cotton and his team craft seasonal menus that showcase the best of Norfolk's larder. Expect unfussy, simple British food, cooked exceptionally well, with a touch of nostalgic farmhouse charm. Locally Sourced Ingredients: The restaurant prides itself on using produce from nearby small-scale farmers and growers. This commitment to local sourcing ensures the freshest flavours and supports the regional economy. The inspired proprieters and team aim to always add a unique touch, the menu often features foraged ingredients such as sea herbs, wild garlic, elderflower, and blackberries, highlighting the natural bounty of the Norfolk landscape.

Starter
Rich brown parfait crab meets vibrant fermented chilli white crab, balanced by zesty preserved lemon. Served with pillowy milk bread
Delicate asparagus salad paired with earthy Jersey Royals, creamy organic boiled eggs, and a punchy ‘Yellowist’ Oaks anchovy dressing, bursting with fresh fennel.

Main Course
We were delighted to choose roasted hake, flaky and tender a testament to freshness accompanied by the comforting carby-ness of carlin peas, their subtle earthiness providing a wholesome counterpoint. A vibrant wild garlic verde cuts through with its verdant punch, while a luscious lemon butter sauce elevates every bite.
We were also treated to the Crispy Duck Leg. Succulent, boasting a perfectly crispy skin, paired with sweet, caramelised onions. The dish is further enhanced by the rich, savory notes of cured duck, and a velvety borlotti bean sauce tying it all together. A must-try for discerning palates!
Dessert
.A creme brûlée makes for a decedent sweet touch. Infused with bay leaf, the sugary snap of the carmelised top paves the way for a silky dessert that practically melts in the mouth
Sumptuously served up for sharing, joyous homemade doughnuts are a nostalgic seaside delight. Bitesized and soft inside, they’re poised on top of a pool of hot toffee sauce, accompanied by a lightly spiced cinnamon creme fraîche that balances the palette.
